The main faults of graphite pads are gas leakage and impurities. The reason for poor reproducibility is the leakage caused by the reduction of graphite. Impurities in graphite may have two effects: * Due to the connection between the glass lining tube or the inlet side of the chromatographic column, ghost peaks generally occur. In split flow analysis, the influence of the graphite pressure ring on the inlet side of the column is relatively small; Secondly, baseline drift usually occurs due to the connection on the outlet side of the column or the nozzle of the FID.
