The HYRD700 series radar oil tank level gauge can emit high-frequency microwaves that propagate along the steel rod. Due to encountering the measured medium, the dielectric constant undergoes a sudden change, causing reflection. The time interval between the emitted pulse and the reflected pulse is proportional to the distance of the measured medium. Meanwhile, guided wave radar can also measure the interface between two different media, fully utilizing the difference in dielectric constant of the media. But the measurement condition is that the upper layer medium is non-conductive, or its dielectric constant is more than 10 times smaller than that of the lower layer medium. Widely used in cement plants, coal plants, power plants, petrochemicals, food industries, and general industrial applications.

Working principle

The high-frequency microwave pulses emitted by the guided wave radar propagate along the detection component (steel cable or steel rod) and encounter the measured medium. Due to a sudden change in dielectric constant, reflection occurs, and a portion of the pulse energy is reflected back. The time interval between the emitted pulse and the reflected pulse is proportional to the distance of the measured medium.

Any medium with a dielectric constant greater than or equal to 1.4 can be measured

Suitable for measuring liquids (diesel, gasoline), solid small particles, powder media (cement), and media with high dust emissions

It is suitable for measuring obvious volatile gas media, and for media applications such as foam, wall hanging and scaling, surface fluctuation, bubbling or boiling, high-frequency loading and unloading, and dielectric constant or specific gravity change under ultra-low liquid level conditions
