Quick solvent switching
The concentration changes of ions, neurotransmitters, and all the ligands to be measured are important steps in the recording of patch clamp technology today. The French Bio logic rapid solvent switcher is the simplest and easiest to use system designed to meet this purpose.
This instrument uses the well-known principle of "drain tube" to position the top of the cell or electrode (in an ex vivo membrane state) close to the capillary outlet. The tested solvent flows out of the capillary at a gentle flow rate. Cells exposed to this solvent flow quickly equilibrate in the perfused solvent.
All solvents flow through their respective pipelines to their outlets, eliminating all issues such as dead volume, clarity of the tested solvent, and cross contamination. This infusion principle is widely used in many laboratories, proving it to be a very suitable system for solution analysis.
Quick automatic solvent switching
Transport the tested solution to the RSC rotary head. The highly accurate rotation of the RSC head will complete the solution switching, connecting the membrane pipette or cell to a certain pipeline flow. Rotating from one pipeline to an adjacent one can be completed in between 2 seconds and 800 seconds. With the help of disc-shaped rotor technology and micro step commands issued by the controller, the motor has no vibration. Due to
There are enough pipelines, so each tested solution can have one pipeline. Compared with the fixed pipeline device, the rotating head achieves rapid switching of the infusion solution in the membrane pipette without any contamination with the previous solution.
Traffic settings
The flow rate is controlled by gravity (other solutions can be stopped by valve group control, or these solutions can flow simultaneously outside the pipette). The solution is simply driven by gravity, and the flow rate is controlled by the height of the solution storage tank.
Instrument Control
Solution switching, valve control, and motor-driven injector control
1. Manual control from the front panel
2. Use analog pulses from triggers or D/A boards for automatic control (reference example: AN # 1-RNC controlled through Axon software); AN # 2-RCC controlled by Heka software
3. Control via RS232 or GPIB (only applicable with NIGPIB board) computer, and edit and download a sequence using the provided software.
RSC-200 can transmit an analog excitation to the patch clamp through a 16 bit D/A converter, so RSC-200 is also a trigger. This trigger can be combined with solution switching through software programming.

electric valve
Electric valve is an option used to open the selected pipeline. If no valve is used, all solutions will flow simultaneously, just like the RSC-100 instrument. A set of 9 valves are installed on one rack. RS-200 can drive 36 valves (4 groups). The valve used for RSC-200 is usually a globe valve. The valve can accept instructions from the front panel controller or software. All valves can be programmed to open or close synchronously with pipeline position switching. Multiple valves can be opened simultaneously, and the opening and closing of the valves can be independent of the head rotation. For example, pre-set the flow of the next measured pipeline before rotation.
Syringe holder and holder
Two types of syringes:
-10ml syringe (standard) 18mm hole
-50ml syringe (optional) 32mm hole
The most convenient way to fix the syringe is to choose a syringe holder designed for this application. The syringe holder can be installed and hung in a convenient position on the Faraday cage or mounted on its seat. A syringe holder can be installed on each side of the holder, accommodating a total of 18 syringes.
nose
An important feature of RSC machine head is the easy switching of transmission solution pipelines, which eliminates residual pollution without the need for cleaning. Each RSC has a nose.
The head design can support capillary tubes with an OD1.00mm diameter and has the following advantages:
1. Capillary tubes can protrude and make good contact with the pool
2. The number of capillary tube installations depends on the user
3. Capillary tubes occupy the smallest space in the pool
4. Easy replacement of capillary tubes
5. Easy to connect with hoses
The material of the machine head is polyoxymethylene resin, reinforced with an internal metal rod. The external diameter of the machine head has high precision (± 10 microns), which makes the pipeline position highly repeatable. There are two guide pins installed on the machine head to ensure the straight and parallel distribution of capillaries. The capillaries are fixed by two O-rings, making installation and adjustment very convenient. The capillary tube is connected to a short polyethylene tube, thereby connecting to a large pipeline from the valve to the injector.
glass capillary tube
The straight head design can connect glass capillary tubes with an outer diameter of 1.0mm (Ref: GB 100TF 8P, ID=0.78mm, 8cm long, port fire polished). Other brands of glass can also be used
Flexible pipeline
Two types of tubing are used to connect the syringe and the capillary tube mounted on the machine head
1. Insert a polyethylene tube (ID: 0.3, OD 0.7mm) into the tail of the capillary tube, which requires approximately 10-15 cm. This tube is used to over connect the slightly larger diameter tube from the syringe, thereby reducing the load on the rotating head.
2. C-Flex tubing (ID: 0.5mm, OD: 2.1mm, Ref: COLE PARMER # 6424-59) is used to connect syringes and polyethylene tubing coming out of glass capillaries. The C-Flex pipeline is very compatible with our electric valve and is even more air tight than silicone tubing.
Other types of pipes can also be used, and in some cases, PTFE pipes are better than polyethylene pipes.
trigger
RSC-200 is equipped with a trigger channel (± 10V, 1mV, 1ms resolution), which can be programmed through software like solvent switching.
TTL
On the back panel of the instrument, there is a 4 x TTL independent programmable channel. Like trigger channels, TTL pulses can be programmed through software like solvent switching.
software
The RSC-200 instrument is equipped with 32-bit Windows software, which can perform the following operations
-Manually adjust the position of the machine head
-Manually open the valve
-Vhold setting sleep mode
-The order of editing and downloading can be changed at each step with the following parameters:
1. The retention time at the activity location of a specified pipeline number
2. Solvent switching speed (head rotation)
3. Choose electric valve to open/motor-driven injector to start (if available)
4. Trigger pulse level (± 10V range) (applicable only to RSC-200)
5. TTL signal activation (up to 4-wire signal)
6. Activate other auxiliary equipment
RSC-200V2.0 software compatibility has been tested and is well compatible with the following systems:
WindowsXP Pro 32-bits
Windows Vista Business 32-bits
Windows7 64-bits
Configuration: - USB to RS-232 Converter (Kelkin F5U103)
-USB to GPIB Converter (National Instruments GPIB-US-HS Software Driver V2.8)
operator
The RSC-200 motor can be installed on the X-Y-Z manual operator for mechanical fixation. We suggest two models of operators UM-3C (with rotation mechanism), M-152
