Basic composition
Scope of application:
There is a sealing ring on the ring (the red part in the figure), making it more suitable for conducting migration tests on thick or inelastic materials.
However, it must be noted that the sealing ring may come into contact with food simulants, which may cause external migration and contamination, so a blank comparison test must be conducted.

Loosen the screw in connection diagonally and remove the top fixing plate.
Place the material sample on the fixed plate, with the surface to be tested facing the food simulant. Next, place the locator and a suitable center ring.
Place the second material sample on the center ring, with the surface to be tested facing the food simulant.
Place the top fixing plate and‘Sieg-Mi-Flex’Gasket.
Tighten the stainless steel knurled flat head screws diagonally.
Make the migration pool vertical.
Remove the sealing cap and insert the funnel.
Add food simulants to the central ring.
Cover with a sealing cap to seal.
Place the migration pool vertically in a drying oven at the necessary temperature.
At the end of the test, remove the migration pool from the drying oven (warning: very hot!), cool it to room temperature, and carefully open it.

Principles for selecting migration pools
The purpose of using a migration pool is to transfer trace harmful substances from packaging materials to the liquid of food simulants under different conditions such as temperature, time, and acidity. Then, other methods such as mass spectrometry and chromatography are used to detect the content of harmful substances in the liquid, in order to determine whether the gas is harmless to humans or within legal standards.
Migration pools are divided into single-sided and double-sided types, which means that if the packaging material to be tested is in single-sided or double-sided contact with food, it needs to be distinguished and tested separately. For example, the outer packaging of instant noodles and the packaging of seasonings are two types of contact methods.

In terms of material, the migration pool itself needs to have no trace substance precipitation to interfere with the accuracy of the experiment,LABCThe migration pool includes three types of materials: Schott glass, polytetrafluoroethylene, and metal. The metal is resistant to high temperatures180℃, able to withstand certain pressure; Polytetrafluoroethylene products are waiting to be promoted; Schott Glass's migration pool can achieve130℃, the advantage is that it is completely transparent and the internal state can be seen.
Migration experiments are conducted for subsequent testing, so the amount of food simulant liquid is a factor in selection. If there are many types of experiments to be conducted in the later stage, a larger volume migration pool should be selected to facilitate obtaining sufficient experimental samples in one experiment; At the same time, the area of the sample is also a factor to consider, because the diameter of a large volume migration pool is relatively large, and the sample needs to be fixed on one side of the central ring. The sample needs to be large enough.
