7、 Instructions for use
(1)Instructions for use
1. Before using the instrument, it is necessary to carefully read this manual and strictly follow the prescribed working conditions and usage methods.
2. The working standard whiteboard and reference standard whiteboard are used for calibration and calibration of instruments during operation. The surface must be kept clean, especially the working standard whiteboard, which cannot be exposed to dust to avoid artificially affecting its standard value. In daily work, the reference standard whiteboard should be used to calibrate the instrument, and the measurement value of the reference standard whiteboard is transmitted by the random working standard whiteboard standard value When working, attention should be paid to the orientation of the whiteboard, and the marked surface should face the operator.
3. Before starting up, use a clean and lint free cotton cloth or paper to wipe the sample holder and measuring port of the instrument clean to prevent contamination of the whiteboard and test samples.
4. The surface of the tested sample must be uniform and flat. During repeated testing, the consistency of the longitudinal and transverse directions of the tested sample should be maintained. For testing non flat and uniform tested samples (such as powders, particles, fibers, etc.), the sampling method is described in the sample preparation.
(II)Sample making
1. If there is an "unevenness" phenomenon on the measurement surface of the sample that cannot be improved, or if there are differences in horizontal and vertical lines, the sample can be measured at different positions or angles, and the average of the measured whiteness values can be taken to represent the whiteness of this sample.
2. For paper, cloth, and various fiber fabrics, multiple layers of overlapping samples should be taken until they are opaque (for paper, several overlapping samples of 50 × 70 millimeters should be taken according to QB534-67 regulations until they are opaque, that is, increasing the number of samples until the whiteness value remains unchanged is considered opaque). Place the sample on the sample holder so that it is parallel to the testing personnel in the longitudinal direction (parallel to the direction of the instrument panel).
3. For powder or fine granular samples, the sample should be placed in a powder container and the surface of the sample should be flattened with a clean and smooth glass plate. Due to different testing conditions, different test results may be obtained. So, in order to establish the relationship between whiteness values of similar samples, it is necessary to standardize the sampling method for testing samples. Including weight, particle size, and compaction method, to achieve similar density and surface smoothness between samples. If high measurement accuracy is required, the constant pressure powder former produced by our factory should be purchased.
4. For fibrous items such as cotton, synthetic fibers, wool, silk, etc., they should be first sorted and combed into a longitudinal surface, and then placed in a self-made sample box for testing. The sampling method (including quantity) should be uniform, and it is advisable to make several more samples to measure their average value.
(3)Measurement preparation and measurement process
1. Measurement preparation:
Connect the power cord or install the battery, press the power switch on the left side of the instrument, and the display screen should show a number. Preheat for 60 seconds.
2Operation flowchart: see Appendix
3. Measurement of opacity T
Test according to the method specified in ISO2471-77.
After pre adjustment, the instrument should test the sample with sufficient thickness and layers to limit opacity.
a. Place the sample on the instrument for testing, then remove the top layer of the sample and place it on the bottom layer to measure a total of five layers of samples. Record the light reflection factor R ∞ of each layer of the sample.
b. Take the five layers of samples that have been tested above and use a black tube as the substrate to record the light reflection factor RO on the surface of each layer.
c. Repeat steps a and b to measure the R ∞ and RO values of each layer of the original sample.
d. Calculate the average value of R ∞ and RO on the positive and negative sides of the sample.
e. Calculate the opacity of the front and back sides (T):

R0
T=100
────
R∞

Calculate the opacity of each side accurately to 0.5%. If the difference is greater than 0.5%, the opacity of the front and back sides should be identified separately. If the difference is not greater than 0.5%, report the overall average value.
8、 Maintenance and overhaul of instruments
1. Standard board for whiteness
Random work standard whiteboards and fluorescent whiteboards should be regularly submitted to higher-level measurement units or industry testing centers for approval, once a year. If contaminated, it should be promptly sent for inspection and recalibrated after cleaning.
The calibration of the reference whiteboard is a random calibration, conducted at least once a month, and should be properly stored. The calibration value transmission method is specified in Article 3 of the "Measurement Preparation" section.
2When testing powder or fine granular samples, try to purchase the powder forming machine produced by our company. Carefully and slowly place the sample under the measuring port to avoid the instrument being unable to calibrate zero and the measurement being inaccurate.
3. Within one year from the date of purchase of the instrument, if the instrument is damaged or cannot work due to manufacturing quality issues, the manufacturer is responsible for repairing it for the user free of charge, provided that the user operates and uses the instrument in accordance with the prescribed methods. If the instrument is damaged due to improper use by the user, the manufacturer will charge corresponding parts and labor costs. The manufacturer is responsible for lifelong maintenance of products outside the warranty period.
