Acidic water corrosion
The processing of acidic crude oil often causes severe corrosion at the top of the crude oil distillation tower and condenser. Due to the injection of steam into the distillation tower, a large amount of water is produced. Crude oil itself contains pollutants such as sulfur, salts, and gases. These substances dissolve in the produced water to form a highly corrosive solution, commonly known as acidic water. Due to the fact that the corrosion rate largely depends on the pH value of acidic water, reliable treatment and neutralization are required.

The situation is unsatisfactory
Our client used to control the chemical treatment of acidic water using a regular pH measurement system. The large amount of hydrocarbons present in the process continues to affect the pH electrode, leading to a decrease in its performance. The customer has to give up and turn to laboratory measurements.

Confirm the accuracy of the standard solution by placing it in solutions of 4 and 7 and displaying around 7 during calibration.
Possible internal short circuits in electrodes or cables may cause separate replacement of cable wires and sensors for troubleshooting.
If it is determined that the problem is with the cable and there has been water ingress at the joint, try soaking the joint in anhydrous alcohol for 30 minutes, then exposing it to sunlight or drying it in an oven The drying temperature should not exceed 60 ℃.
After the calibration of 6.6M300/M400 is completed, an exclamation mark alarm/exclamation mark port appears. In order to ensure that the measurement system is in good condition, the Mettler measurement system has an automatic diagnostic function. When the performance indicators of the transmitter, electrode, etc. are lower than the built-in database indicators, the transmitter will display an exclamation mark alarm prompt.
