When the laser beam passes through a dispersed particle sample, particle size measurement is completed by measuring the intensity of scattered light. Then the data is used to analyze and calculate the particle size distribution that forms the scattering spectrum.
A typical system consists of three main components:
Optical Platform - Dispersed samples pass through the measurement area of the optical platform, where a laser beam is directed onto the particles. When red and blue light are irradiated onto sample particles, scattering occurs over a wide angle, and a series of detectors can accurately measure the scattered light intensity of the particles.
Sample dispersion device (attachment). The sample dispersion is controlled by a series of dry wet dispersion devices. Ensure that particles are transported to the measurement area of the optical platform in the correct concentration and appropriate stable dispersion state.
Instrument software: Mastersizer3000 software controls the system during the measurement process, analyzes scattering data, and calculates particle size distribution. The software can also provide real-time feedback during the method development process and offer professional advice on the quality of the results.
