overview

METEOR IFAS&MBBR Technology

METEOR IFAS/MBBR technology can provide flexible solutions for upgrading a large number of biological processes, such as denitrification, improving treatment capacity, and wastewater reuse.

The carrier size, geometric shape, and internal specific surface area are key characteristics. Our unique carrier is designed with optimal performance in mind.

The upgrade of IFAS or MBBR usually only requires adding the carrier and screen to the existing treatment tank, so the upgrade can be economically and timely completed without major civil engineering and without occupying additional area. PLC based control systems optimize IFAS/MBBR process performance by minimizing energy and chemical costs.

The working principle of IFAS and MBBR

IFAS is an integrated fixed membrane activated sludge (METEOR) process that combines the advantages of two basic biological treatment processes, namely fixed membrane technology and suspended growth technology (conventional activated sludge), to form a hybrid system.

By combining the typical high biomass of IFAS fixed membrane technology with the typical fluidization of traditional activated sludge (CAS), METEOR ® Technology can achieve higher removal rates in smaller volumes.

Traditional activated sludge bioreactors are typically modified by adding IFAS carrier retention nets and modifying aeration grilles to incorporate IFAS biofilm carriers. The medium can promote the growth of attached biomass and achieve fluidization throughout the entire bioreactor.

In the MBBR system, the biofilm carrier supports all biomass without the need to recycle activated sludge.

Features and Applications

Characteristics of HYBACS

main features

  • Through in-depth research, the IFAS/MBBR system can optimize mass transfer, biomass density, and pollutant removal efficiency.
  • Meteor ® Combining the three major characteristics of large aperture area, high specific biomass, and UV resistance, it is highly suitable for IFAS/MBBR applications.
  • The carrier with a diameter of 22 mm allows for the use of larger screen sizes, thereby minimizing head loss and fouling tendency on the screen.
  • High elasticity process that can adapt to changes in flow rate and pollutant load.

application

The METEOR process can be used for a wide range of biological treatment applications:

  • Increase traffic
  • BOD removal enhancement
  • Removing ammonia through nitrification
  • Total nitrogen removal rate
  • Total nitrogen and phosphorus removal rate
