It can be used to monitor surface contamination of walls, floors, tables, hands, feet, clothing, or other items.

The purpose of surface contamination monitoring is to prevent the spread of radioactive contamination, check the effectiveness of radioactive contamination control or whether it violates operating procedures, limit surface contamination to a certain area and level, and prevent contamination from spreading and workers from being exposed to excessive radiation. This provides information for developing personal monitoring plans, system monitoring plans, and operating procedures.


2、 Working principle


The working principle of the surface contamination meter is to detect the alpha and beta radiation intensity in the radioactive working area and on the clothing of workers through a scintillation detector (plastic scintillator+ZnS (Ag)). When alpha and beta rays pass through a scintillator, photons are emitted. After passing through a photomultiplier tube and amplification circuit, the photons form electrical pulses, which are then detected by a window discriminator to distinguish the alpha and beta signals. These signals are then sent to a counting circuit for calculation and processing to obtain measurement results.
