Particles in the air scatter when exposed to light, a phenomenon known as light scattering. Light scattering is related to factors such as particle size, wavelength of light waves, refractive index of particles, and their light absorption characteristics. However, in terms of scattered light intensity and particle size, there is a basic rule that the intensity of scattered light from particles increases with the increase of their surface area. In this way, by measuring the intensity of scattered light, the size of particles can be inferred, which is the basic principle of light scattering particle counters. |

Y09-6E provides a constant velocity sampling head connected to the sampling port through a hose. The constant velocity sampling head helps to reduce counting errors in sampling small particles and should be used in each measurement. When sampling typical indoor and outdoor aerosol particles, the constant velocity sampling head should always face upwards. The instrument can be held in the hand or placed on a flat surface or tripod, with the LCD screen facing the operator. In places where constant airflow is sampled, such as clean rooms, ducts, downstream of filters, etc., the direction of airflow flow is always aligned with the opening of the constant velocity sampling head. The hose connecting the constant velocity sampling head and sampling port can be extended if necessary. However, a longer length will increase the burden on the sampling pump, reduce the airflow velocity, and cause premature failure of the sampling pump. It can also cause counting loss, especially an increase in counting loss for large particles. It is recommended to shorten the length of the hose as much as possible, and its length should not exceed 4 feet. The sampling height can also affect readings, and readings near the floor may be several times higher than readings at line of sight height.
When using Y09-6E to analyze pollution issues, it is important to note whether all pollution is continuous and whether some is the result of short-term events or a burst of particles. Multiple samples must be taken at the same location to determine the source of pollution. |
