Carbon films treated in a hydrocarbon reducing atmosphere (usually using methanol) can produce hydrophobicity–veOn the surface, it can strongly adsorb positively charged macromolecules such as ferritin and cytochromeCIsoprotein family (related to mitochondrial inner membrane).
