This compensator has a universal joint and two pairs of mutually perpendicular hinge structures in the circumferential direction. The designed universal joint, hinge, and pin can withstand the thrust formed by internal and external pressure on the expansion joint. Therefore, it can absorb angular displacement of any plane: usually, two or three combinations should be used when absorbing displacement.
