Gases with different moisture contents will condense on the mirror surface at different temperatures. Using photoelectric detection technology to detect the exposed layer and measure the temperature during condensation, directly displaying the dew point. The methods of mirror cooling include semiconductor cooling, liquid nitrogen cooling, and high-pressure air cooling. The cold mirror dew point meter adopts a direct measurement method, which can be used as a standard dew point meter while ensuring accurate dew detection, high efficiency of mirror cooling, and precise measurement of condensation temperature. At present, the international high-precision reaches ± 0.1 ℃ (dew point temperature), and a certain gas humidity corresponds to one dew point temperature; A dew point temperature corresponds to a certain gas humidity. Therefore, measuring the dew point temperature of a gas can determine its humidity. The absolute humidity can be obtained from the dew point, and the relative humidity of the gas can be obtained from the dew point and the temperature of the measured gas. The value directly given by the dew point meter is the dew point temperature, specifically the "thermodynamic dew point temperature". The definition adopted by the World Meteorological Organization is the thermodynamic dew point temperature Td of moist air with a pressure of P and a mixing ratio of r, which refers to the temperature at which moist air is saturated with water at a given pressure.

At this temperature, the saturated mixing ratio rw of humid air is equal to the given mixing ratio r. The working principle of a photoelectric dew point meter can be simply described as follows: the measured gas passes over a smooth metal mirror surface cooled by cold nitrogen gas at a certain flow rate under constant pressure. As the temperature gradually decreases, the mirror surface begins to condense (or frost) when it reaches a certain temperature, and the temperature of the mirror surface at this time is the dew point temperature. The instrument measures the dew point temperature Td through an optical system, temperature measurement circuit, logic control circuit, digital display circuit, etc., and displays it. At present, the National Institute of Metrology, Shanghai, Guangdong, Liaoning, Shaanxi, Xinjiang, Shenzhen, Foshan, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other provincial and municipal metrology institutions all use Michell cold mirror dew point meters as the measurement standard for temperature and humidity dew point!
