Coaxial cable test adapter
Coaxial cable test adapter
Product details

The coaxial cable test adapter of the DSX series cable certification analyzer can quickly and easily test coaxial cable links.

The DSX series cable certification analyzer has added the ability to test coaxial cable systems, including previous generation data cables (such as 10BASE-2 or 10BASE-5 Ethernet) and video distribution coaxial cables, with further enhanced functionality. The new coaxial cable testing adapter and upgraded software from Fluke Network Company have added the following coaxial cable testing functions to your DSX series cable certification analyzer:
• Length
• Transmission delay
• Cable (input) impedance
Insertion loss as a signal frequency function
Cable impedance
The cable input impedance is used to determine whether the cable is the correct coaxial cable type, such as the 75 ohm cable and 50 ohm cable or 93 ohm cable used in the previous generation Ethernet system. In addition, the tester performs time-domain reflection (TDR) testing on the link to ensure that the cable does not undergo significant changes in impedance characteristics. Abnormal impedance will lead to serious signal transmission quality issues, and the instrument will provide * * impedance diagnostic results.
transmission delay
The transmission delay measures the time required for a signal to travel from one end of a cable link to the other. The NVP value of a cable refers to the electrical signal speed on the cable, which is used to convert transmission delay into the 'electrical length' of the link. If the accuracy of NVP values is sufficient, the electrical length will be close to the physical length.
insertion loss
With the DSX coaxial cable test adapter, the DSX-1800 can measure the insertion loss of coaxial cables in the frequency range of 1 to 900 MHx. The DSX-1200 can measure insertion loss in the frequency range of 1 to 350 MHz using a coaxial cable adapter.
