PBT enhanced modification
Adding fiberglass to PBT results in a strong bond between fiberglass and PBT resin. By adding a certain amount of fiberglass to PBT resin, not only can the original advantages of chemical resistance and processability be maintained, but its mechanical properties can also be significantly improved, overcoming the sensitivity of PBT resin to gaps.
2. Flame retardant modification
PBT is a crystalline aromatic polyester, and without the addition of flame retardants, its flame retardancy belongs to UL94HB level. Only with the addition of flame retardants can it reach UL94V0 level.
Common flame retardants include bromides Sb2O3、 Halogen flame retardants such as phosphides and chlorides, with decabromodiphenyl ether being the most common, have always been the main PBT flame retardant. However, due to environmental reasons, European countries have long banned their use, and all parties are looking for alternatives, but there has never been a performance advantage surpassing decabromodiphenyl ether.
3. Modification of blended alloys
The main purpose of blending PBT with other polymers is to improve the notch impact strength, alleviate warping deformation caused by shrinkage during molding, and enhance heat resistance.
Blending is commonly used for modification both domestically and internationally. The polymers used for PBT blending modification mainly include PC, PET, etc. This type of product is mainly used in automobiles, electronics, and power tools, and its application fields vary depending on the proportion of fiberglass.

1. Automobile

PBT, as one of the engineering plastics, is widely used in automobiles due to its excellent mechanical properties, mechanical strength, fatigue resistance, and good dimensional stability.

Application of PBT plastic raw materials

a、 Mechanical properties: high strength, fatigue resistance, dimensional stability, and minimal creep (with little variation under high temperature conditions);

b、 Heat aging resistance: The enhanced UL temperature index reaches 120-140 ℃ (outdoor long-term aging resistance is also good);
c、 Solvent resistance: no stress cracking;
d、 Water stability: PBT is not easily decomposed when exposed to water;
e、 Electrical performance:
1. Insulation performance: Excellent (able to maintain stable electrical performance even in damp and high temperatures, making it an ideal material for manufacturing electronic and electrical components);
2. Dielectric constant: 3.0-3.2;

f、 Molding processability: ordinary equipment injection molding or extrusion molding. Due to its fast crystallization rate, good fluidity, and lower mold temperature requirements compared to other engineering plastics. When processing thin-walled parts, it only takes a few seconds, and for large components, it only takes 40-60 seconds.
